Vickie Darlene Schaefer's life ended peacefully Friday, August 3, 2012 at Cypress Grove Nursing Home after an 8 year battle with Alzheimer's.

Vickie was born in Nashville, Tennessee on March 4, 1951 to John and Naomi Kirby. She loved spending time with her family, especially the annual family reunion in Kentucky. Vickie also loved bowling, reading, gardening and enjoyed collecting baskets. Vickie was always a hard worker and never missed a day of work.

Vickie is survived by her daughter, Stacia "Stacy" (Bernie) Nellis of Newburgh, IN; sons: Michael D. (Monica) Watson of Evansville, IN and Jason Schaefer of Evansville, IN; mother, Naomi Kirby of Evansville, IN; brother, Rick (Terri) Kirby of Evansville, IN; grandchildren: Logan Fleming, Hunter Joffray, Justin Joffray, Caitlyn Lloyd, Christopher Steele; and several nieces and nephews.

Vickie is preceded in death by her father, John Kirby in 2004.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711.

Friends may visit from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM, Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Browning Funeral Home.
