Obituary:
Chester Ray Barton, 86, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Deaconess Hospice Care Center.

Chester was born in Evansville, IN on March 18, 1926 to Edward Lee and Tirzah (Brammer) Barton. He worked as a switchman at L & N (now CSX) and retired after 25 years. Chester was a WWII Veteran and was a VFW #114 Member. Chester was also a member of the Shriners, The Scottish Rite, and the Masonic Lodge #64. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren's school activities and was a Cardinals fan. Chester was a man who could fix anything and was a caregiver for his wife Eileen for the last three years of her life.


Chester is survived by his Daughters, Sandy Kurzendoerfer (Bernie) and Sue Mangold (Charlie) of Evansville; Sons, Dan Barton (Florencia) of Queens, NY and Allen Barton (Kamala) of Evansville; Grandchildren, Tony Barton, Brad and Kyle Mangold, Taylor, John, and David Barton; Great-grandchild Jeremy Barton; Sister, Thelma Birkhead of Evansville; Sister-in-Law, Mary Lou Barton of Evansville.

Chester is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Eileen Barton; Parents; Sisters Doris Geiser, Wanda Mae Perkins and Evelyn Glossinger; and Brother Herb Barton.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Browning Funeral Home 738 Diamond Avenue with Pastor Carolyn Edwards officiating. Friends may visit from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday July 11, 2012 and from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Thursday. Entombment will be held at Alexander Memorial Park Mausoleum.
