Obituaries

Gerald "Jerry" M. Zimmer, 76, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012 at Deaconess Hospice Care Center.

Jerry was born in Evansville, Indiana on August 22, 1935 to Ernest W. and Mary (Lashley) Zimmer. He worked for and retired from Sigeco/Vectren after 38 years of service and was a member of the Local IBEW 702.
Jerry enjoyed golf, sport shooting and hunting. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church for over 60 years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and playing with his dog, Bear. Jerry also loved listening to gospel music, especially the Gaithers.

Jerry is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Elaine Zimmer of Evansville, IN, Malcolm and Sheryl Zimmer of Evansville, IN, Matthew and Rhonda Zimmer of Evansville, IN; sisters, Dorothy and Mary Beth both of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Mitchell Zimmer, Brandon Zimmer and his wife, Marissa, Nicholas Zimmer (Audrey), Angela Talley (Thad), Joshua Zimmer (Lauren) and Heather Sandefur (Bert); great-grandchildren, Alex Elemendorf, Sky Phelps, Lily Zimmer, Sophia Zimmer and Eli Randolph.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jerrod Elmendorf; and his wife of 56 years, Marilyn Y. (Roedel) Zimmer.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Concordia Lutheran Church 2451 Stringtown Rd. with Pastor David Wiist officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Friends may visit from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Monday, June 25, 2012 at Browning Funeral Home 738 Diamond Ave., and from 9:00 AM until service time on Tuesday at the church.
