Obituary:Phyllis June (Selzer) Brown, 82, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at her home at Brookdale of Willow Lake in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Phyllis was born in Evansville, Indiana on June 23, 1929 to the late Walter W. and Lillian "Babe" (Clark) Selzer. She graduated from Central High School in 1947. Phyllis went on to work as a bookkeeper at Feldman Baking Company and later at O'Daniel Ranes. She was a member of the Mary Martha Class, the Lincoln Bible Class and was a Girl Scout leader at St. John's United Church of Christ in Evansville. In later years, Phyllis was a member of Christ Church United Church of Christ where she served as an elder and vacation bible school teacher. Phyllis was also a Girl Scout leader at Fairlawn School. She was a talented writer who loved the natural world, gardening and music.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Janet Brown of Indianapolis, IN; a granddaughter, Sarah Birkhead of Indianapolis, IN and two cousins.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Fred Brown in 2005 and her parents.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, Indiana 47711 with Rev. Jack Ulrich officiating. Burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Monday, June 11, 2012 at Browning Funeral Home.
