Name: Jimmy Darrell Smith Dates: Birth date: January 7, 1945 Death date: May 23, 2012 Obituary: Jimmy Darrell Smith went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2012. He passed away at Heritage Rehab Center in Evansville, Indiana at 6:50 PM. Jimmy was 67. Jimmy retired from Alcoa Warrick Operation after 39 years of service. He loved spending time with his family, playing with his dog, Sissy, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball. He is preceded in death by his father, James R. Smith and his mother, Hazel (Hudnall) Plouffe. Survived by and left to cherish his memory are his two loving sisters, Donna Bae Varner (husband Joe) and Debi Cates (husband David), and many nieces and nephews. Jimmy will always be remembered for his quick wit and good sense of humor. He will be missed but never forgotten by his many friends and relatives. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 25, 2012 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit from 11:00 AM until service time at Browning Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mesker Park Zoo, 1545 Mesker Park Dr. Evansville, IN 47720.
